Please help me, when can I put my goldfish back in their tank?

When my daughters gold fish tank is cleaned out, that includes the gravel etc being completely rinsed and fresh water put in the fish goes straight back in and we've never had a problem, yours are probably suffering from a lack of oxygen at the moment.
